(no subject)

And I passed the new driving test.
One of the other instructors was tailing us for 3/4 of it. That was a little stressful, considering how angry the assessor got, and how frustrated my teacher was with it.
Also had to do three right hand turns from a side street across four lanes of traffic.
But no-one died. YAY

So do I!
(My theory is that I don't have to drive much at all now, because I don't need to practice to pass!)

An excellent theory, I do believe.

Congrats!!! I think you are the first person I know that has sat this new test, what do you have to do to pass it??

[identity profile] rain-and-snow.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
About 10 minutes of backstreets with right and left turns often, stop signs, give way, and no signs. And a 'maneuvre' (spelling?) being either a three point (with or without driveway) or a reverse parallel park (within 7 metres bumper to bumper for whole thing).
You either pass or fail that bit.

The second is based around the idea that they want to be passing drivers who can move and flow in traffic, while being safe and following all rules (which was the basis of the old test). I got some massive right hand turns, three across a divided road. Lots and LOTS of lane changes. There are some extra conditions for failing, too.
